Four different poker types
One good thing to have in mind when playing poker is to consider which poker types your opponents are.
Basically, there are four types of poker players that you should be aware of. Knowing and understanding these types of poker players may help you on your way to becoming an even better poker player than you already are.
The first type of poker player is known as a “calling station”. “Calling stations” are often poker novices. They are inexperienced, and therefore they tend to call almost all the bets they’re faced. If you’re not a “calling station” yourself”, you’ll quickly identify this type of poker player and you’ll easily beat them so if you are at a casino this is who you want to play against.
Another poker type that you’ll find around the tables is a mouse or mice. It’s characteristic for this type of poker player that he or she seems to hesitate a lot when it comes to risk. It seems that they will only bet on their poker hand when they’re absolutely sure that they’re going to win.
A third type of poker player is the maniac. A maniac is a very aggressive poker player. He or she plays a lot of hands; they raise frequently, and often bluffs.
Finally, you may meet the last type of poker player: The rounder or the grinder. These are really good poker players that travel around the world playing the big tournaments, so watch out for them!
